Street Lighting in Kings Worthy
Residents in one part of Kings Worthy say the village is getting a raw deal when it comes to the provision of on-street lighting.
People who live in the Springvale Road area say the gloom is making it dangerous for pedestrians and cyclists and are calling on Hampshire County Council to look urgently at the issue.
The Prospective Conservative MP for Winchester, Steve Brine, highlighted the issue following feedback from residents after recent canvassing in the area. He says; “Kings Worthy appears to be a peculiar black-spot when it comes to street lighting and Springvale Road in particular needs urgent attention.
“A large number of residents from Springvale Road, Fraser Road and surrounding streets use the route to pick up bits from the Tesco Express or in the other direction to access the Fraser Road shops or Tubbs Hall and many of them have genuine safety concerns.”
Steve Brine has also written to Tesco asking them to work with the authority to bring about a swift resolution to the problem. “I would hope to see a positive community focused response from the retailer,” he adds.

Stan adds; “Local street lighting has been a recurrent theme in our recent canvassing. Steve Brine and I would like as many residents as possible to tell us their view, and if they agree something needs to be done, to return the petition slip below as soon as possible.
