MP Steve Brine has launched a major survey about the local NHS to mark the start of 2014.
The MP for Winchester & Chandler's Ford has produced his Health Check Survey which covers general health policy, hospital as well as primary care and asks for views about the future of hospital services in our area. It is being delivered to every home in Mr Brine's constituency.
Steve says; "One way or another, we all use and rely on local NHS services. That includes me and my family and I care deeply about its future so my priority, here and in Parliament, continues to be health. But I think we have to be honest and our view of the NHS should be a balance between recognising strengths and the need for improvements to make it a world-class public service for the long-term.
"Locally we have huge challenges ahead as the Trust considers how it can provide high quality, safe and sustainable services, possibly including a new acute care hospital, many years into the future. I remain of the view that process must be clinically led but the clinicians must win the argument and take us with them, not impose change arbitrarily. The next few years will provide opportunity for us but could demand great compromise.
"There are so many live issues in health right now including Government policy, GP services and out of hours care as well as all the issues around possible hospital reconfiguration. I hope constituents will respond in large numbers so I can feed their view into the key players right across our local NHS."
