Steve Brine visited St Martin in the Wood church in Hiltingbury on Saturday 21st September, to join a Men's Breakfast group and discuss his work in Westminster and across the constituency.
The group meets monthly for a slap up breakfast with a guest speaker and discussion, and over 30 men came along to meet their Chandler's Ford MP.
Steve spoke about his life before becoming an MP, his early experiences in the House, and the balance of constituency and Westminster life, as well as his work on the Justice Select Committee. He also touched on his work in various all-party groups, including Cycling and Breast Cancer, asl well as what it is like being a Christian in public life today.
Rev'd Michael Smith, who hosted the event, said: "We were delighted that Steve was able to take time to come and talk to our Men's Breakfast group about what it takes to become an MP and what life is like as our local MP.
"We were grateful that he was able to take the time to come and share with us. The group meets monthly and we have a wide range of speakers but Steve's presence drew the largest number we've had for sometime! We all thoroughly enjoyed gaining an insight into Steve's life and listening to some of the stories and traditions of the House of Commons."
Steve said: "This was great fun, I always relish the chance to explain what the life of an MP is really like and to let people know how much cross-party good work goes on that you never see reported. It was also good to speak a little about life as a Christian in the House of Commons, something rarely discussed."
