Alresford latest stop for Summer Tour

Steve Brine was joined by all three Alresford & Itchen Valley councilors this morning as he brought his 2016 Summer Tour to Alresford.

The team, all elected in May at the city council elections, spent several hours in the middle of town meeting shoppers and chatting to them about local and national issues.  They were also joined by PC Paul McShea from Hampshire Constabularly.

Constituents raised issues ranging from Brexit (wanting to make sure it happens and is not blocked by the unelected House of Lords), reform of Parliamentary boundaries, childcare and local planning matters.  And it was a hot one, temperatures reaching 22 degrees during the day.

Speaking after the event as he headed over to Pizza Express to meet up with his family, Steve Brine said; "Our Alresford street surgery is now in its 10th year and we all love it as much as ever.  People are so pleased to see us and they seem to really like the combination of MP, councilors and local police to chat with about issues on their mind.

"When we're putting together the Summer Tour programme each year, Alresford is always first on the team sheet and we look forward to holding our next session there later in the year which is already in the diary."
