Speaking from the Conservative Conference, Steve Brine backs new education initiatives.
Prospective Winchester MP, Steve Brine, has backed plans that would see competitive sports and the spirit of adventure put back into local schools.
Speaking after the Education debate at the Conservative Party Conference in Blackpool, Steve said: "I have long argued that we must make it easier for our kids to do proper competitive team sports and for them to go on outward bound trips so we can bring adventure back into learning.
"I share the fear of so many people that our children are being brought up in a world where they are so insulated from adventure, so restricted by health and safety rules, that they never learn to manage risk. Because they cannot find it in the safe environment of school, some seek risk in other ways that often leads to some of the worst anti-social behaviour that is blighting many of our communities.
"We have said today that we will make it easier for all schools to bring back adventure. We will change the law to shift the balance against the health and safety bureaucrats so we dismantle the compensation culture and let our children enjoy the wind in their hair and the thrill of testing themselves outside their comfort zones."
Steve is pictured above discussing the ideas with Shadow Schools Secretary, Michael Gove, on the conference platform after he had delivered his speech at Blackpool's Winter Gardens.
