The newly extended Pavilion and Parish Council office at Fryern Recreation Ground was opened in a special ceremony on Thursday 10th March.
HM Lord-Lieutenant of Hampshire, Nigel Atkinson Esq, officially opened the facility, in front of a large group including local councillors and the Mayor of Eastleigh, as he spoke of his support for the scheme before unveiling the plaque.
Having heard from parish council chairman, Cllr Margaret Atkinson, and the choir of Fryern Junior School who performed two wonderful songs, the Lord Lieutenant planted a tree to replace one that his predecessor Dame Mary Fagan planted in the Jubilee Garden.
He then met children from Fryern Junior School, before taking a tour of the building and meeting groups that use the facility, as well as the Parish Council's Officers and Councillors.
He also spoke to local businesses that have supported community events, and recent grant recipients including Chandler's Ford First Responders as well as neighbours from Greenways.
