Steve Brine will be speaking out in the Commons on Thursday 15th March against moves to charge members of the public for tour of Big Ben.
The Winchester & Chandler's Ford MP is firmly behind the principle that while Parliament needs to make financial savings, the House of Common's is a people's Parliament, and taxpayers should be free to visit without making a further contribution.
Speaking ahead of the debate, Steve said: "I more than understand the need for Parliament, just like everybody else, to make savings, and can totally see the situation here.
"However, the overriding principle is that the Commons is already paid for by the taxpayer, and I feel any moves to put additional charges on people who will already have experienced a not inconsiderable cost in travelling to London in the first place is just wrong."
