Steve Brine visited the Hampshire Fire and Police Headquarters in Chandler's Ford on Thursday 5th January as he met up for the first time with the new Chief Constable for Hampshire, Olivia Pinkney.
The Winchester & Chandler's Ford MP was able to cover a lot of ground in the session, which included a discussion with Laura Edwards, from the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Local Resilience Forum over winter preparedness across local communities with specific reference to plans for any flooding and getting an even better response that in 2014.
In addition, Mr Brine and CC Pinkney discussed the new national police funding formula, where Hampshire is the second lowest funded force in the country, and rural crime, ahead of PCC Michael Lane's upcoming Crime Matters conference in Sparsholt on the issue, which Steve is looking forward to attending.
They also spoke about local music festivals, and the unique challenges and pressures around policing popular national events such as Boomtown, which is held on the outskirts of the city each summer.
Steve said: "This was my first meeting with Olivia, and she came with very high regard from Sussex last year. It was useful engagement for me, and I look forward to seeing her in Westminster next month when she briefs colleagues on their funding challenge."
