Winchester MP Steve Brine welcomed a group of constituents from Oliver's Battery to the House of Commons (Monday 2nd July).
The ten-strong group, led by Constance Leach, were invited by the MP to discuss their recently published parish plan. It represents three year's work to reflect the vision of local residents and includes a comprehensive and detailed plan for the community over the next decade. They were joined by Cllr Jan Warwick who represents Oliver's Battery on Winchester City Council and Hampshire County Council.
Issues outlined in the plan range from residents' number one priority, which is to see safety improvements at the junction of Oliver's Battery and Badger Farm Road, to improved public transport links and the need to protect open space and the landscape setting of Oliver's Battery.
Steve Brine said; "I'm very grateful to the group for coming up, especially on such a warm day, but it was nice to be able to treat them to afternoon tea on the Terrace and thank them for all the hard work they've put in to develop what is a substantial parish plan.
"It was good in particular to give thoughtful consideration to some of the key priorities in the plan and to identify where I and Jan Warwick can help. We will move forward together and I look forward to working with the team."
Constance Leach added; "Now the plan is published, we have much work to do on all sorts of issues for our community. We are grateful for the continuing support and enthusiasm that Steve and Jan give to us all in Oliver's Battery."
The Oliver's Battery Parish Plan group is an independent community-led body which has received support and funding from Hampshire County Council, Winchester City Council and the Oliver's Battery Parish Council.
