Steve Brine joined students at the University of Winchester as he launched the exciting new Sound Radio at the annual Fresher's Fayre on Saturday 24th September.
Sound Radio is the official radio station of the Student Union at the Uni, and Steve joined the Sound Radio team and Deputy Vice Chancellor Tommy Geddes as they hit the airwaves for the first time at midday.
Steve said: "I am really excited about this project. It's amazing for me Winchester doesn't have its own radio station and I hope in the long term this will put that right. Having had a former career in radio, I know how hard the industry is to break into, so this new station will be invaluable to students at our university as they try and build their portfolios for the future."
Sound Radio is now available online, and will be broadcasting across Winchester later this year from the Christmas Market, with a view to it being a permanent station.
Steve added: "As ever, the Conservative Student stand at Fresher's Fayre was mobbed with new students, and I was delighted once again to be on hand to meet new people.
"There is always such a buzz at this annual event, and it never fails to amaze me just how engaged so many young people are with current affairs. A big well done to Ross England, who now leads the only political society on campus, and really put on a welcome to new students to be proud of."
