Former County Arms landlord Martin Jacobs, who is running the London Marathon for a number of charities, raised £972 with his special Rock Legends concert held at the Theatre Royal on Friday 18th March.
Local MP Steve Brine dropped in having been invited to meet with Martin, and his wife Linda, to hear more his fundraising plans, and was delighted when the evening's takings had been totted up.
Martin, who went totally blind 11 years ago, has osteoporosis, COPD pulmonary disease, and is in remission for tongue cancer.
This year, despite being wheelchair-bound, the grandfather of 16 is taking part in the London marathon, where he hopes to raise £10,000 for CLIC Sargent,Trinity Winchester and Alzheimer's Society.
Speaking after the Rock Legends evening, Martin said: "It was so good that we'll repeat the event next year, and it will be bigger, better and bolder for 2017. Watch this space!"
