The App, which can be installed via Steve's popular website www.stevebrine.com is the latest initiative from the MP to fulfil his promise to be the most open and accessible MP Winchester & Chandler's Ford has had. It has been developed by PoliticsWeb and no taxpayer money has been spent on the project.
Steve said: "For many people, including me, Apps are an everyday part of life but until now MPs haven't really made use of them. I am delighted therefore, to be one of the first but above all it's important to me I am fully accessible to constituents and that means being on as many platforms as possible.
"My 'shop' on Stockbridge Road in Winchester was part of that and my website, as well as my You Tube Channel and various social media platforms, are receiving large volumes of traffic so this was the logical next step. We're all so busy these days so I hope this helps the people I represent to see what their MPs is doing and to get in touch if they need me. When we sort out the issues around mobile signal on the train line to London it might even be of use to the thousands of commuters I represent each day!"
Steve's App contains local and Westminster news, details of local campaigns - including his new school drive - and the very latest films via his TV channel as well as full contact details. The MP said he looked forward to receiving feedback from constituents and improving the service further in the future.
Michael Dent from PoliticsWeb added: "A mobile web-app is a great way for MPs to keep in touch with their constituents - Steve is leading the way in this regard, and we expect to see increasing interest from other MPs in the next 12 months."
