Steve Brine visited the Potters Heron on Monday 16th September as he spoke to a group of local Rotarians.
The Winchester & Chandler’s Ford MP addressed The Rotary Club of Chandler’s Ford and Itchen Valley about his life as an MP and his time as a Minister, before taking questions about cross party working, being an Independent MP, Boris Johnson and his deal.
Steve said: “This was the third time I have spoken to this Rotary Club in the last decade and it was good to be back. Members and guests were a great crowd and really keen to get under surface of the life an MP.
“For my part, given how unfairly maligned MP are right now, it was excellent to have the chance to explain the daily work we do and the hard graft which never hits the headlines.”
Bob Merrett of The Rotary Club of Chandler’s Ford and Itchen Valley, said: “Steve gave a fascinating look at the life of an MP at Westminster in what are very turbulent times for him personally and for the Country. He impressed all of us all with his insight and frankness and we were privileged to hear how current issues are dealt with.
“It provided a fair degree of comfort to know that beneath the headlines our MP was still maintaining a focus on matters that are of importance and concern. He was roundly congratulated for his presentation by Rotarian Mike Cherryman.”
