Steve Brine attended the annual Service of Unity at the United Church on Jewry Street on Sunday 20th January.
Held by Churches Together in Winchester, the event is an opportunity for all the churches in the city to meet for worship and prayer, and to encourage each other in their shared vision for the city.
The guest preacher was the Very Revd Catherine Ogle, Dean of Winchester Cathedral, and heard readings from Fr Mark Hogan (St Peter’s) and Nigel Hemming (Vineyard), while prayers were led by Dorothy Lunsmore.
Steve read The Coming of the Holy Spirit, and hymns included; Love Divine; Speak O Lord, as we come to You; Longing for light, we wait in darkness; and Lord, for the years your love had kept and guided.
Steve Brine MP said: “It is always such a privilege to attend this special service of Christian unity let alone to be involved.
“The warmth and prayers of Winchester mean so much to me and it was striking how many said they were praying for me and supporting me in what are obviously difficult days for our country.
“Thank you to Rev Tim Searle from the United Church and the new Chair of CTW for bringing us together.”
