Local Winchester candidate takes the tour of outstanding co-ed prep school.
Prospective Winchester MP, Steve Brine, visited Prince's Mead School on Thursday (October 18 2007).
It is an independent co-educational preparatory school for children aged from three to eleven, founded in Winchester in 1949. It has occupied the Victorian splendour of Worthy Park House, near Kings Worthy since 1999.
Steve took a tour of the school, met many of the teachers and pupils and watched a football match against visiting teams from Sherfield School. He also met with Headmistress, Penelope Kirk.
Steve says; “The whole team at Prince’s Mead could not have been more welcoming and enthusiastic. I found the whole atmosphere of the place to be relaxed and comfortable with itself, a fact which was well reflected in the children. Penn Kirk clearly runs a very tight ship and obviously lives and breathes her school – she has much to be proud of. The memory of the little boy who showed me his drawing of a revolutionary new bike which cycles along the sea-bed and pulls boats at the same time will live with me for some time!”
