Steve Brine attends meeting of The Worthy's NW in Kings Worthy.
Prospective Winchester MP, Steve Brine, attended a meeting of The Worthy’s Neighbourhood Watch team this evening (Monday 8 October 2007).
The gathering of local NW coordinators was held at The Cart & Horses on London Road in Kings Worthy and gave residents a chance to speak with PC for the area, Donna Russell and one of the PSCO’s.
Those present heard a resume of some of the most common crimes being committed in the area and useful advice on crime prevention.
Speaking after the meeting, Steve Brine said; “I was extremely grateful to The Worthy’s NW Chairman, Rob Fellows for allowing me to be there and take part in the meeting. I have a huge amount of respect for the work of Neighbourhood Watch and the Alresford & District area, which includes The Worthy’s, surely has some of the most dedicated volunteers among their number.
“As the police face ever greater demands on their resources, the role of Neighbourhood Watch becomes more important. NW members provide an invaluable ‘eyes and ears’ service for the local police as well as take a vital role in preventing crime. They are a first class example of local communities working together for the common good.”
Steve Brine recently distributed the September edition of his newspaper The Winchester Post which carried the 'Safer Streets?' story on its front page. You can download the page here.
