Winchester & Chandler's Ford MP Steve Brine has joined the All-Party Group for Music Education, and kicked off his membership with a meeting with the Managing Director of Classic FM.
Darren Henley has recently conducted an independent review of Music Education for the Department of Education. His findings reveal that while in some parts of the country, the opportunities for children to take part in musical activities are immense,, some children in England do not currently receive an adequate, let alone good, Music Education.
Speaking after the meeting, Steve said: "One of my constituents recently contacted me letting me know about the group, and asking if I would drop in. While my diary in the Commons is packed, I did see the importance of this, and was delighted to find a window to pop by.
"Darren Henley spoke very well about his review. I welcome the news that the government has agreed to publish a national plan this summer, and I certainly take with me the pressing need to ensure this is as good as it can be before it is applied across the whole country."
