Huge congratulations go to Chandler’s Ford Parish Council who collected the 2018 award for ‘Village of the Year’ at a ceremony organised by the Hampshire Association of Local Councils (HALC) in association with Fullers, last month.
Runners-up awards were received for ‘Best Open Spaces’, ‘Best Community Event’ (Fryern Funtasia), and ‘Excellence in Localism’.
Steve Brine said: “This is a tremendous achievement, not just for the Parish Council and its dedicated staff, but for the Chandler’s Ford residents and volunteers who give their time and effort toward delivering a power of community action and spirit which is second to none.
“The parish council was only established in 2010, so I pay particular tribute to Cllr Margaret Atkinson who led the council until May 2018 with a vision of ‘Pride in Chandler’s Ford’ to turn aspirations into reality for the community, often in the face of significant opposition.
“My hope is that the newly elected Parish Council will continue the good work and build on the legacy of the previous Conservative-led administration”.
Steve also paid tribute to tireless community champion, Cllr Michael Hughes, who received a special award from HALC as an ‘Inspirational Individual’ for his work toward community associations and facilities.
