Steve Brine joined the Bushfield Down Supporters Group on Friday 3rd February to hear more about their project to turn the area into a 'village green'.
The group has been active since 2003, and is actively involved in the application for Town and Village Green Status to the area, made possible by an Act of Parliament that is still on the statute book. The first step in the process will take place via an enquiry at Hampshire County Council on 19th March.
Barbara Guthrie, of BDSG, said: ""I was very pleased that Steve Brine took the time to walk around the Bushfield site. It gave us an opportunity to show him what an important area of Winchester this is for the local communities that value and use it- Badger Farm, St Cross, Stanmore and Oliver's Battery."
Joining Barbara and Steve were CharlesĀ Jennings and John Pilkington, who are also members of the group, which recently met with over 50 local residents to discuss the application at Badger Farm Community Centre.
Barbara continued: "The views to the Cathedral, St Catherine's Hill and St Cross were spectacular on a perfect winter afternoon."
Steve added: "I was delighted to be able to pop over to Bushfield Down and meet with members of this very passionate group. Barbara is right, the views are absolutely spectacular, and it was great to be able to listen to their thoughts on the application while we walked around the area."
