The Prospective Conservative MP for Winchester, Steve Brine has welcomed the installation (at last!) of the new 30mph speed limit for Church Lane.
Residents will know the new limit was legally applied to the road this week but this is only part one and the campaign goes on to make Church Lane safer.
Steve says; “This has been a painfully slow process but everyone has been extremely patient and the important thing is we now have the 30 limit in place. The work doesn’t stop here however, we need to ensure signs can be clearly seen by motorists at both ends of the 30 zone because at the moment there is nothing for those approaching off the roundabout on Main Road and that threatens to make matters worse.
The other issue which has gone hand in hand with the Church Lane speed limit is the resurfacing work.
Steve adds; “I am pleased we were able to secure its inclusion in the works programme for 08/09. This didn’t involve political posturing just quiet determined work behind the scenes and some heavy lobbying of the County Council - alongside local residents. This will see resurfacing take place in January 2009.”
