Steve Brine, MP for Winchester & Chandler's Ford, has been nominated by Breakthrough Breast Cancer for House Magazine's 'Backbencher of the Year' award after his work raising the profile of breast cancer in his first year in Parliament.
Steve joined the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Breast Cancer when he arrived in the Commons, and was quickly elected Co-Chair, alongside fellow MPs Annette Brooke and Sharon Hodgson.
A spokesperson for Breakthrough Breast Cancer said: "Steve has been very active in driving forward the work of the All-Party Group with lots of fresh ideas on subjects as diverse as watercress research and engaging pop stars to raise the profile of the group. He has chaired events, represented the Group at meetings and never misses a chance to ask a question or talk about the issues in Parliament– it is clear he wants to make a difference for people affected by breast cancer!"
