July each year sees a stunning festival of the arts in Winchester and the 2015 event was kicked off on Friday 17 May.
Steve Brine and his young family were there along with patrons of the festival, the Dean of Winchester cathedral and Cllr Eileen Berry, the Mayor of Winchester. The launch event was held in the stunning Priors Hall in Cathedral Close.
This years programme sees a wide range of talks, events and music and runs from 3-11 July. Highlights include a candid interview with Greg Dyke about football and the BBC as well as an evening of poetry and music with Dame Carol Ann Duffy.
Festival Director Carol Butler said; "As in every year we are hugely indebted to the many people who make the Festival possible. In particular, we extend enormous gratitude to the Festival's sponsors and donors – both those who are new to the Festival this year and those who have been our partners for many years – and to the individual patrons. We are especially grateful to our Principal Sponsor, Rathbone Investment Management, for their continuing support, to The Tramman Trust and The Friends of Music in Winchester for their longstanding commitment, to all of our event and festival sponsors and to our sterling individual patrons who are the backbone of the Festival."
Steve Brine added; "The Winchester Festival is one of those mainstays of the Winchester year and I think it's very important we value it and support it. Every year there are some really interesting parts of the programme and 2015 looks to be no different. I hope to catch one or more events myself."
