Steve Brine was on hand at River Park Leisure Centre on Friday 5th June as Winchester City Penguins Swimming Club held their Annual Primary Schools Gala.
The Winchester MP has been a long-standing supporter of Penguins, and has attended every year since he was first elected to represent the city in 2010, and once again helped out by presenting prizes to some of the winners.
Penguins was formed in 1948, providing inclusive training programmes from 'Learn to Swim' through to 'Competitive Squad Building,' all taught by friendly, qualified, professional swimming teachers and coaches.
The club encourages swimmers of all ages and abilities in an environment of focused and enjoyable learning and training. The club not only attracts members from the local area but also from Andover, Basingstoke, Eastleigh and Southampton.
The ability of members range from those that can swim a few lengths through to those that compete at major open meets and County, Regional and National competitions.
Steve Brine said: "This is one of my favourite events of the year, and it was great to hear that over 25 local primary schools competed this year. A very big well done to all who took part, and all who won their races."
