Proposals to move Alresford away from the Winchester constituency dominated Steve Brine's latest street surgery in the town – until a plate of sausages came along!
The local MP was joined by Cllr Ernie Jeffs and Town cllr Lisa Griffiths for the session, held on Saturday 10th November on the corner of Broad/West Street in the town. They were joined by local PC Ben Stoneley and a neighbourhood PCSO for the two-hour event.
Steve says; "Ernie Jeffs and I have been holding this street surgery for almost seven years now and this one was one of our busiest to-date. We had so many people stopping to chat and everyone wanted to say how much they disagree with the boundary commission proposals to sever Alresford from the Winchester constituency at the next election. It was a pleasure to let them know exactly how they can make their views known to the commission before the December 10th deadline.
"As always, it was great to be in Alresford and the response from residents is getting better all the time. The fact we are now being joined by a Town councillor, Lisa Griffiths, and local police officers just makes it more valuable to local people and they seem to be genuinely pleased their local MP is making himself available in this totally accessible way."
This street surgery took a turn for the different when a member of the team from Alresford butcher, fishmonger and deli, CE Evans, came out with some warming sausages - to the obvious delight of Steve's Labrador Popcorn! CE Evans are celebrating their centenary this year.
While in the town, Steve Brine dropped into the opening of the refurbished Horse& Groom Pub which has been taken over by Fullers.
