NHS Inclusion Recovery Hampshire held a special event at Winchester Cathedral today (Saturday 25 August) to celebrate recovery from addiction.
The event, held in Catherdral Outer Close, saw local charities such as Trinity and Nightshelter joined by others from across the area to celebrate the acheivements of residents affected by drugs and alcohol. The programme for the day says "it provides a timely reminder for all of us who work on behalf of service users and their families of why we must do our utmost to provide the best services we can."
Inclusion Recovery Hampshire has been working in the county for over 3 years establishing relationships, both with service users, partner agencies and commissioners at Hampshire County Council.
Local MP Steve Brine and his children dropped into support and spent time chatting with stall holders, organisers and Dean Catherine. He said; "As a local MP, and the Public Health Minister, I know how important these services are and thank everyone involved for all they do day in day out as well as organising this excellent event."
The gathering was blessed by the Dean of Winchester and well-known resident, Sarah Chester, opened proceedings just after midday. It saw music, information stalls and a spiritual arena featuring yoga, singing, tai chi and meditation.
