Steve Brine and his family were part of a packed Cathedral Close on Thursday 22nd November as the city's festive market and ice rink were officially opened.
Leading the festivities were the Mayor of Winchester, Cllr Frank Pearson, and the Dean of the Cathedral, The Very Rev James Atwell. Entertainment, which came on young Emily Brine's 5th birthday, included a firework display, and lady dancing with fire and a performance by the choir boys of Winchester Cathedral.
Speaking afterwards, Steve said: "Winchester is becoming the Christmas city and I challenge anyone to find a better setting for a festive market than Cathedral Close in Winchester.
"For me, the opening of the market and ice rink kicks off the Christmas season and it was extra special this year to be able to take little Emily on her 5th birthday. She and William were in wide-eyed wonder and loved every minute of it."
