The City of Winchester Trust visited Parliament recently (Weds 19 June 2013) to raise a wide range of local issues with City MP Steve Brine.
Mr Brine invited Trust representatives to meet with him in the House of Commons twice each year and was joined by Chairman Keith Leaman and Vice Chair, Michael Carden.
Among items on the trust agenda were coalition plans to relax planning laws (known as Permitted Development Rights), the future of Bushfield Camp, the re-development of the station area in Winchester and Barton Farm. The group also discussed the energy code likely to be used by CALA on the Andover Road development and many issues around transport and connectivity with the local area when it is built.
The MP has agreed to be the guest speaker at this year's City of Winchester Trust AGM which will be held on Monday 23rd September.
Steve Brine said; "It's become a regular meeting for me with the Trust and I am keen for that to continue. I find these sessions extremely useful and it gives the Trust a chance to convey members interests to me which I always use to inform myself when feeding back to Ministers. As a long-standing member of the Trust myself I know how much good work they do in the city and how lucky Winchester is to have such dedicated people looking out for it."
Keith Leaman, Trust chairman, said; "It is so valuable to be able to meet with Steve on a regular basis allowing us to discuss concerns that are likely to affect the City in both the medium and long term. I am also delighted that he has been able to accept our invitation to speak at the Trust's AGM on 23rd of September".
