Steve Brine invited the City of Winchester Trust to the House of Commons (Monday 2nd July) for a catch-up on the major projects facing the city.
Chairman Keith Leaman and Arthur Morgan met with Mr Brine to discuss city centre regeneration, the new leisure centre, station approach and a handful of other issues.
The City of Winchester Trust was set up in 1957 and their main aim today is to preserve the distinctive and evolving character of the city, by seeking to influence the decisions of both City and County, Councils and the proposals of developers.
Steve Brine said: "It was very good to catch up with the Trust as I, and many of my constituents, value greatly their opinion more than ever at what is a key moment for Winchester.
"I know they have their concerns about 'Silver Hill' but I was impressed with their forensic examination of the issues and willingness to engage positively with the leadership at WCC.
"I know they will be listened to carefully and am grateful to Caroline Horrill and her senior team because they're rightly committed to bringing the widest possible range of opinion into decision making at the Guildhall."
Keith Leaman added: "The meeting was very constructive as we were given the opportunity to inform our Member of Parliament of the current situation and our concerns with the content of some of the proposals on what is likely to be a major change to our historic City.
"It was very interesting to recognise how up to date Steve Brine is on the various development opportunities that exist and their likely impact."
