The Post Office has announced proposals to restore Post Office services to Micheldever, as well as part of a plan to serve a number of communities around Barton Stacey.
Since the closure of a number of offices across the area, they have continued to look for a solution to restore these services, and are planning to introduce a new Mobile Service.
The Mobile Service is a travelling Post Office aboard a specifically designed vehicle that brings Post Office services and retail products to communities without relying on fixed premises
The Postmaster from Barton Stacey Post Office has confirmed he is willing to offer services to Micheldever, as part of a wider plan for a number of villages to the north of Winchester and across the Test Valley.
The proposed opening time for the Micheldever service is Wednesday morning between 930am-1030am, with a range of services including Car Tax and Euro/Dollar Travel money. Customers could still collect benefits in cash using their everyday banking services or Post Office card account.
The Post Office is now starting a 6 week local public consultation and would like to hear thoughts from local people before they finalise plans.
Steve Brine said: "I think these proposals will be warmly welcomed by Micheldever residents, and I am sure it would be useful if people could take part to ensure a service shaped to local need."
