Steve Brine is backing Winchester City Mill as it seeks to raise £125,000 to carry out essential repairs to save the site.
Dating back well over a thousand years, Winchester City Mill lies in the heart of the city and has, until now, weathered the course of time. However, following recent flood damage, Winchester is at risk of losing one of its most historic properties.
Steve Brine said: "I remember dropping in as I was working around the clock back in 2014 during those dreadful floods, and have spoken to the team these past few days, it is clear that they need to raise this money or they will have to close.
Ric Weeks, manager, said: "We can only achieve our fundraising goals with your generous support. To help us reach our targets, we're hosting a range of events and special moments over the coming months. We hope that you'll join us for some brilliant days out, whilst helping to ensure that Winchester retains one of its best-loved landmarks."
The fundraising venture is launched over Saturday 4th & Sunday 5th February, between 10am-3:30pm. Entry is free, and there will be a packed programme of activities, including live milling, baking demonstrations on Saturday, a new family trail and an exclusive recipe card.
They will also have freshly ground flour to buy, so people can get baking as soon as you get home, while the basement tours will demonstrate firsthand why they urgently need to save this important and much-loved historic building.
