Steve Brine raised the work of speech therapists in tackling the 'spiral of poor behaviour' in Justice Questions on Tuesday 19th March.
The Winchester & Chandler's Ford MP, who is a member of the Justice Select Committee, discussed the new 'army' of speech and language therapy practitioners who have been recruited by Hampshire County Council to provide support for children with an identified communications need.
The Justice Select Committee is working on preventing young people from entering the criminal justice system, and Steve asked the Minister, Jeremy Wright MP, if there were plans to deepen work with the Department for Education to reach pre-primary and primary schools and work with children with communication needs to stop the spiral of poor behaviour in the first place.
Mr Wright said that the importance of early interventions is 'entirely right' and pledged to continue to work across government to address these issues.
