The Help for Heroes (H4H) Colossal Cake Sale in Winchester raised £6336 on Saturday 9th March, a simply fantastic result for the charity.
The two stalls in The Brooks Centre and in St Maurice's Covert sold over 2000 cakes, tickets for 65 donated raffle prizes and H4H merchandise, while Hero the Bear came along to encourage everyone to give generously.
Councillor Frank Pearson, Mayor of Winchester, officially opened the Cake Sale and local MPs Steve Brine and George Hollingbery, also came along to give their support.
Sarah Walker, who organised the event, commented: "All the Colossal Cake Sale volunteers would like to thank everyone who 'did their bit' to help us raise this terrific amount by baking cakes, collecting cakes and, not to forget, buying the cakes!
"I would also like to thank all those companies who so generously donated raffle prizes or helped in other ways. We could not have raised this sum without all your support - thank you for helping us to help our heroes."
Emma Parry, Co-founder of Help for Heroes: "Congratulations to Sarah and her team – this is a fantastic result and they've beaten all their previous cake sales! It's a wonderful example of people rallying support and having a great deal of fun while they raise money for a wonderful cause. We'd like to thank the people of Winchester for all their support; it will help us make a real difference to the lives of our heroes."
