Steve Brine has spoken of the need for the country to focus on our transport infrastructure and poor levels of productivity, after the Chancellor set out his first Autumn Statement on Wednesday 23rd November.
The Winchester & Chandler's Ford MP welcomed the plan that will provide a stable economic platform as the UK prepares to leave the European Union, with clear plans for investment, public spending and the tax system, while the country continues to bring down the deficit.
Mr Brine said: "It is important that we recognise and celebrate the fact that unemployment is so low, and employment levels are at a record high, as that is the bedrock of our strong economy.
"We clearly, however, have a problem with productivity, In our area that is in large part down to our transport problems, and my constituents will be all too familiar with the M3 and M27, our rail service into London, and of course the A34, all issues that are currently 'live' on my desk.
"I am also very keen to get into the detail of the new £32bn Productivity Fund which is specifically for innovation and infrastructure, and more broadly I know the focus of the PM and the Chancellor is to prepare Britain to seize the opportunities ahead, building an economy where everybody has a chance, and where every part of this United Kingdom contributes to, and benefits from, our future success."
