Local MP Steve Brine enjoyed a cup of tea and a slice of homemade apple pie today as he dropped in on the 4C's Cafe at Colden Common Community Centre.
Steve was in the village as part of his Summer Tour 2011 which is taking him and his team across the constituency. The MP spent much of the afternoon in the Highbridge Road/Brambridge area discussing some very current road safety issues. He also made a number of house calls in Colden Common before dropping into 4C's.
Steve contacted Irene and Brian Venables, who run the volunteer cafe on a Saturday morning at the Community Centre after they were awarded the 'Parishioners of the Year' award by local people.
He says; "I love going to Colden Common and we had a really productive afternoon there today. There are so many issues raised by constituents, local and national, and I look forward to following up on them.
"I have wanted to see the 4C's for myself for ages and the chance to meet Irene and Brian - as well as Margaret who does so much to help - was the perfect opportunity. They were so lovely and I can see exactly why they received their recent acolade. They also make a mean cup of tea!"
