Local MP Steve Brine has joined Prime Minister David Cameron in calling on start-up businesses and entrepreneurs in Winchester & Chandler's Ford to get involved in this year's Conservative Party Start-up Hub and win the opportunity to showcase their work in front of thousands of visitors at the Conservative Party Conference in Manchester.
Launched for the first time two years ago, the national competition is a chance for 12 new businesses to demonstrate their ideas or designs during the four day conference running from Sunday September 29th to Wednesday October 2nd.
Launching the competition, Prime Minister David Cameron, said: "The Conservative Party believes that small businesses and entrepreneurs are the lifeblood of the UK economy. To show our continued commitment to British enterprise and entrepreneurs I am pleased that the Conservatives are once again running the Start-Up Hub at our Conference. I support this initiative and encourage start-ups and entrepreneurs to apply."
Winchester & Chandler's Ford MP Steve Brine said: "This is a fantastic opportunity for entrepreneurs across Winchester & Chandler's Ford and I would encourage anyone with a brilliant new idea to enter for a chance to show off their work to thousands of delegates, the nation's media and business leaders from across the country.
"We are very lucky here in that we have such a wealth of entrepreneurs, from young women in the city turning exciting ideas into sustainable businesses and the very many people I know in the more rural areas who are running successful businesses from home. I would be delighted to hear from anyone interested in this special opportunity."
Former 2012 winner, Mark Thompson from ACEON, said: "Showing our vision and ambition at the Start Up Hub for our Solar Off Grid projects has started a project with the UN. Fantastic networking opportunity to launch our brand and product!"
