Steve Brine, MP for Winchester & Chandler's Ford, took time out to appear as a guest reader on Winchester Talking Newspaper (WTN) on Friday 19th April 2013.
Steve joined a presenter and three other readers at WTN's studio in Chesil Street, Winchester, and participated in the weekly reading and recording of extracts from the Hampshire Chronicle. In the afternoon, a further team copied the recording onto memory sticks and sent them to the organisation's 100 blind or visually impaired listeners in the Winchester area..
Steve said he was very impressed with what WTN did and had been angling for an invitation to be a guest reader for some time, in fact ever since he had attended the official opening of WTN's new studio at Chesil House in November 2010.
After the recording, Steve Brine said: "It was such an honour to be asked to join the WTN team as a guest reader, we had a great time making this edition for listeners. This is such an important resource for the blind and partially sighted across the Winchester District and I know it is hugely valued by those who rely on it to keep up-to-date with local news and events.
"I am committed to working with WTN going forward to help them grow the facility and the number of listeners."
