Steve Brine brought the work of Trinity Winchester to the attention of the Government during question time in the House of Commons.
Trinity provides vital practical and emotional support to over 650 people each year who are experiencing the effects of homelessness or vulnerability. The team have been able to offer more stable accommodation through the Bradbury View, which has been open for one and half years.
Steve helped break the ground on their project back in October 2020 with the, then, Mayor of Winchester, Cllr Patrick Cunningham.
In Parliament, Mr Brine described Trinity as “not just a homeless shelter or day centre for rough sleepers … it provides practical and emotional support to people who are experiencing the effects of homelessness and vulnerability.”
The Winchester and Chandler’s Ford MP brought the former Secretary of State, Robert Jenrick, to visit the Bradbury View in the summer and has now offered the same opportunity to Michael Gove in his new role which he has accepted.
The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Housing and Rough Sleeping, Eddie Hughes, added in the House of Commons; “This is the point, we need to legislate nationally and provide funding, but we need to trust local authorities and local areas, and the excellent services of Trinity Winchester and others of their ilk, to provide a bespoke service based on the demands locally.
