Steve Brine renewed his commitment to persecuted Christians across the world on Tuesday 9th June, as he met up with Open Doors in the House of Commons.
The Winchester & Chandler's Ford MP, a Christian himself, worked with the organisation in the previous Parliament, and the purpose of the meeting was to meet some more of the team and refocus on their goals for this current Parliament.
Open Doors is an international ministry serving persecuted Christians and churches worldwide. The group originated in 1955, when a young Dutchman known as 'Brother Andrew' started smuggling Bibles across the Iron Curtain to the persecuted church. Now, some sixty years later, Open Doors serves millions of persecuted Christians in over 50 countries – including some of the most dangerous places in the world.
Steve said: "I was delighted to accept the invitation, and look forward to working closely with them in the coming months and years. They especially wanted to brief me today on some ongoing cases they are fighting in Southern Africa, which was useful for me to pick up, and it was interesting that the subject came up again today at Foreign Office Questions.
"I have undertaken to continue my work, as I did in the past five years, to speak up for the persecution of Christians around the world."
