Steve Brine spent Friday lunchtime with the chairman of a new cancer charity raising money to set up home right here in Hampshire.
The Winchester & Chandler's Ford MP met with Mark Jones to discuss the £5m fundraising plans for the Ark Cancer Centre, which would be built in North Hampshire by Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
The new cancer centre, to be co-located at the new critical treatment centre or at Basingstoke hospital, will enhance the care received by patients and their families through their cancer treatment journey, with a range of support services and complementary therapies such as acupuncture, yoga and hair & beauty advice.
Steve Brine said: "This was a productive and useful meeting for me, and it was good to hear of their fundraising efforts so far. I know that research has shown that a psychologically supportive environment such as this improves the healing process of patients, as well as strengthening their ability to cope with their illness. I look forward to further supporting them."
