Steve Brine took Prisons Minister Crispin Blunt to HMP Winchester on Thursday 15th March, to meet staff and prisoners and examine the work they do.
The Winchester & Chandler's Ford MP has recently been elected onto the influential Justice Select Committee, chaired by Sir Alan Beith MP, and was delighted to be able to host the Minister, who works with the Ministry of Justice.
As well as visiting workshops and discussing resettlement issues with Governor David Ward, they met with the Wessex Youth Offending Team, where they were able to engage with staff and youngsters and discuss offending and youth justice issues.
Speaking afterwards, Steve said:"It was great to have the Minister with us today, and I am very grateful to HMP Winchester and the Wessex Youth Offending Team for taking the time to host us.
"This is an area that many local people will know I am extremely interested in, and having spoken to Crispin as we were leaving I know that he took as much out of the day as I did."
