Steve Brine has welcomed news that the Chancellor has announced plans for a new discount rail card for 26-30 year olds.
As part of a number of measures in the upcoming Budget which will help young people, the Government is now working with the rail industry to introduce a new discounted rail card for 26-30 year olds, helping to keep the cost of living down for around 4.5 million more young people.
It is expected the card will work on a similar basis to the one for 16-25 year olds, which has existed in one form or another since 1974, which currently costs £30 a year and entitles the holder to a third off the normal fare. It is expected it will be available to travellers from spring 2018.
Steve Brine said: "This new discounted rail card will clearly help young people to keep more of their hard-earned cash, and this is particularly good news as many youngsters locally are also commuters. It is undoubtedly good news and I am sure it will be welcomed by many of my constituents."
