Steve Brine has spoken of a 'fantastic opportunity' having been promoted in Government, taking up his role as the Principal Private Secretary to the Secretary of State for Health, Jeremy Hunt.
The Winchester & Chandler's Ford MP served as a PPS in the previous Coalition Government, in both the Department for Work & Pensions and the Home Office, and has now taken up a senior role to the man in charge of the country's NHS.
The MP, who secured a fivefold increase in his majority in the General Election, polling over 30,000 votes, will now be working at the heart of government's health agenda. He said: "This is a fantastic opportunity to really get my teeth into our health service nationally. People across Winchester & Chandler's Ford know that the local NHS has been my number one priority here from day one, and it has been both challenging and rewarding to take the time to really understand our local health economy.
"I am really looking forward to taking that experience into this exciting government role. Sadly, it means that I will not be able to chair the All Party Group for Breast Cancer any more, but what does excite me is that I will be able to take part in those meetings with my government hat on, and therefore should be able to have even more influence in that area."
