The Olympic Torch Relay is coming to Winchester on Wednesday 11th July, and the final route has now been announced.
The flame will travel through Kings Worthy just before quarter past one in the afternoon, passing landmarks such as the Kings Worthy Post Office, the Cart and Horses and Wessex Window Systems.
Then travelling past Abbotts Barton, and whistling through Hyde, the journey will continue down North Walls and Eastgate Street before passing King Alfred and heading up the High Street, taking in The Square. It will then re-emerge onto the High Street and make its way out of the city along Andover Road.
Winchester MP Steve Brine said: "This is sure to be a day to remember, and I am delighted that alongside city residents, people from Kings Worthy and the surrounding area will get a chance to line the streets and take a look at this historic procession.
"I know there will be a number of local people acting as torch-bearers and this is bound to be an unforgettable day for everyone involved."
Olympics supreme Seb Coe added: "Today we bring the Olympic Torch Relay to life. The Flame symbolises the Olympic spirit and its journey around the UK will bring the excitement of the Games to our streets. Now the people know the route the Olympic Flame will be carried along and the Torchbearers for their community, they can start planning how they might celebrate and make it Winchester District's moment to shine."
