Following the success of the London 2012 Paralympic Torch Relay, supermarket customers will have the chance to see the Paralympic Torch on Wednesday 17th October 2012 between 12.30pm and 2.30pm as it goes on a special tour across the UK.
The Sainsbury's Paralympic Torch Experience will see the Paralympic Torch travel to 400 Sainsbury's stores across the country, on a trip starting in Bradford Upon-Avon and ending in Lampeter on Thursday 1st November.
The Torch is one of 620 Torches used in the 24 hour Relay which took place from Stoke Mandeville in Aylesbury, the home of the Paralympic Movement, to the Olympic Park in Stratford, London on Tuesday 28th to Wednesday 29th August. 101 stores from other areas across the country previously saw the Torch ahead of and during the Games and now the retailer, and first ever Paralympic Games-only sponsor, is extending it to the rest of the country.
Local MP Steve Brine said: "This is great news for Badger Farm, and as the Prime Minister reminded us recently, the Paralympics has done so much not only in terms of enjoyment this summer, but also in changing perceptions of disability.
"I am delighted that the Torch will be on display at Sainsbury's on Wednesday, and I hope as many local people as possible get the chance to see it."
The Torch will be at the store between 12.30pm and 2.30pm. Sainsbury's is the first ever sole sponsor of the Paralympic Games, which took place from 29th August to 9th September, and the only retailer which gave people across the UK the chance to see the Torch.
Sainsbury's Badger Farm Store Manager, Richard Morris, added: "We've really enjoyed playing our part in raising awareness of the London 2012 Paralympic Games in Badger Farm. For our customers, it's a once in a lifetime chance for them to see the Torch and feel the buzz of the Paralympic Games, which we're proud to have sponsored."
