Steve Brine joined South Central Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SCAS) as they held a recruitment open day on Saturday 23rd January.
SCAS were urging job seekers, people looking to return to work after a career break, or people looking to begin the new year with a new challenge to discover the range of clinical and non-clinical vacancies at their Otterbourne base.
The event gave local people the chance to find out what jobs are currently available, chat to existing staff employed at SCAS to discover what it's really like to work for one of the country's best ambulance services. There were also opportunities to see live demonstrations and a selection of Trust vehicles, and an HR representative was present to give advice on how to apply for any current vacancies.
For local students currently studying for, or considering their subject options at, GCSEs and A-Levels, members of the education team were also on hand to talk about the various routes to becoming a paramedic.
SCAS currently has a number of emergency and non-emergency roles, as well as clinical and non-clinical jobs, it is recruiting to. As well as the roles located at the Trust's headquarters in Otterbourne, other available roles include those at the Trust's fifteen ambulance stations and resource centres in Hampshire.
Local MP Steve Brine, who opened the event, said: "I was delighted to meet the SCAS team as they showcased the wide range of jobs and roles they have on offer, and it was great to see so much interest from local people. I hear that 283 registered applicants came along, which is a great turnout."
