A popular former pub landlord is holding a special concert in Winchester on Friday 18th March in a bid to raise £10,000 for charity.
Martin Jacobs is the former landlord of the County Arms, and went totally blind 11 years ago. He has osteoporosis, COPD pulmonary disease, and is in remission for tongue cancer.
This year, despite being wheelchair-bound, the grandfather of 16 is taking part in the London marathon, where he hopes to raise £10,000 for CLIC Sargent,Trinity Winchester and Alzheimer's Society.
As part of his fundraising, he hopes to sell out the Theatre Royal at 8PM on Friday 18th March, where he and a friend are hosting a special 'Rock Legends' concert, with acts covering musicians such as Buddy Holly, Eddie Cochrane and The Carpenters.
Martin has already been on Julian Clegg's BBC Solent show to discuss his marathon and fundraising activities, and has received the full support of his MP, Steve Brine.
Steve said: "I know that this will be Martin's last marathon, and that he wants to go out with a bang. I am sure the Rock Legends concert will be superb, and encourage local people who fancy a bit of nostalgia to support this event!"
