The Rotary Club of Chandler's Ford & Itchen Valley gathered at the Potters Heron Hotel in Ampfield on Monday 10th August to meet newly re-elected Winchester & Chandler's Ford MP Steve Brine.
Alongside over 60 guests, members of the Inner Wheel and invited local councillors, President Bill Hunsley and President-Elect Bob Merrett heard Mr Brine speak about his experiences in the previous Parliament, as part of the Coalition Government, and his thoughts as the new Conservative government gets to work following the General Election.
After Steve's presentation, he held a lively question & answer session, which saw topics such as Assisted Dying, Immigration, his work to resurface the M3 and the state of the Palace of Westminster, as well as his communication with constituents through channels such as parish magazines and online media.
Steve said: "It is almost five years to the day since I first came here as a new boy in Parliament to talk about my election and what the opening weeks of the Coalition looked like from the inside, and it was fantastic to be able to return as a now-experienced Member of Parliament.
"I very much enjoyed the evening, meeting new members alongside many familiar faces, and wish the club well in its upcoming fundraising projects."
Bill Hunsley said: "Steve Brine gave a very informative overview of his day to day activities as a constituency MP and his active role in the Department of Health. He also responded with great sincerity to a series of challenging questions from the audience.
"His great commitment to his obligations came across very clearly and he received a very complimentary vote of thanks from the Rotary Club."
