Steve Brine took his family to Chandler's Ford on Bank Holiday Monday as they took in the hugely popular Fryern Funtasia.
Hundreds of people took part in this fourth event held at Fryern Recreation Ground, which is organised by local volunteers, businesses and Chandler's Ford Parish Council.
Fryern Funtasia is a mixture of the traditional village fete and a busy funfair, and there were pony rides, Go-Karts, a steam railway, Spider Mountain, Race Simulator and a bungee trampoline among many other activities.
There were also performances from the Chandler's Ford Brass Band, Centrestage Production Youth Theatre and Southampton Ukulele Jam.
Speaking afterwards, Steve said: "I took a little time out from this relentless election campaign to bring the kids along, and what fun we had.
"It was lovely to meet with so many people who had a kind, quiet word of support for Thursday while taking part in this fantastic community event, which is now a real fixture on the calendar.
"There really was something for everyone, not just families such as mine. There was a thriving Sustrans stall, we saw a chap packing away a book stall he had set up, and also an elderly lady who had turned up on her own and was very taken with a pot plant she had picked up – so a happy day for all!
"Well done to the whole team for putting on yet another cracking Funtasia."
