You can now donate items for distribution by the Winchester Basics Bank at the constituency shop run by Steve Brine MP.
The MP visited the basics bank earlier this Summer at its premises in Highcliffe and heard how much demand there is for its services and the need to build up supplies in readiness for Winter. He promised then to operate an official collection point at his shop in Stockbridge Road, Fulflood and that is now able to receive items.
Steve says: "The basics bank concept is so simple and more in demand than ever. The Winchester bank is a really well run charity with a smooth unfussy operation to get help where it's most needed and I just want to help them in any way I can.
"My constituency shop is right next door to the convenience store Pickards and Fulflood is such an engaged community so I hope my collection point will do its bit to help stock the basics bank here in the city."
Moira Jack, Chairperson of Winchester Basics Bank said; "Without the generosity of Winchester people our project could not survive and we are so happy to have the support of the community and our MP. Thank you for setting up another collection point for us."
Steve Brine's constituency shop is staffed five days per week and welcomes donations from constituents near and far. Items especially needed include; tins of baked beans, Milk (tinned, UHT and dried), tinned vegetables - especially tinned potatoes, carrots, peas and tomato ketchup.
