Steve Brine met up with a range of experts on Tuesday 1st December, as the All Party Group for Body Image held an inquiry into the use of underweight models on both the catwalk and in advertising.
The event followed extensive media coverage over the London and New York Fashion Weeks, and the French example where they have legislated to prevent designers using models with a BMI of less than 18.
The inquiry heard evidence from a range of experts, including Rosie Nelson, Instigator of the Change.Org petition securing 150,000 signatures, and Hayley Hasselhoff, the International Plus Size Model and daughter of David.
In addition, the session heard from Caryn Franklin, proprietor of Allwalks Beyond the Catwalk,
Professor Anne Chaisty, a Bournemouth University Professor in Fashion, Dunja Knezevic, an international model and founder of the Models Union at Equity, and Dr Ellie Cannon, a GP and columnist for the Daily Mail, as well as being a regular media performer.
Steve said: "This is such an important issue, and I was delighted to support my colleague and neighbour Caroline Nokes MP in taking part in today's session.
"It was also great to see B-Eat, the eating disorders charity, represented, and I know that this event today has already done a huge amount to raise awareness for the campaign."
